De Telegraaf, a Dutch newspaper, has reported that Lexus will be releasing a second generation CT 200h. The world’s first hybrid luxury compact has been around since 2011 and has had a 6 year lifespan. A second generation CT has been projected to be a 2017 model by the De Telegraaf. According to a senior officer of Toyota, the CT will continue to share the same components toolbox as the Toyota Prius.
In July of 2015, a CT prototype was spotted in England. There was no noticeable difference in appearance at the time the vehicle was spotted (other than it’s fancy camouflage wrap). It would seem that this was an early prototype which was testing the underlying platform that will closely resemble the 2016 Toyota Prius.
With the 2016 Prius having received a major update in appearance over it’s previous models and the leaps that Lexus has been making in it’s bolder design/appearance, this looks like a pretty realistic rendering of the next possible Lexus CT. The rendering of the next-generation CT was published by a Japanese magazine named Best Car. The rendering shows an RX influenced front-end and incorporates elements of the Lexus RC. The new Lexus CT will be expected to debut in Japan first in the second half of 2017 and later in the European and North American markets.
What do you think of this CT rendering?
