The final days of the fourth generation Lexus LS are near. Lexus plans to release an all new LS for the 2017 model year. Meanwhile, for 2016, Lexus has made a few changes to the LS 460 and hybrid 600h L. Some of the changes are subtle, but in no way un-welcomed by Lexus enthusiast.
While the overall body design will not see any change to the 2016 Lexus LS, engineers have updated the vehicle’s rigidity. By adding special body adhesives to the Flagship Lexus ride quality and handling has improved. Some non-hybrid LS models will offer available run-flat summer tires, changing the ride dynamics as well. Eminent White Pearl will replace Starfire Pearl and Atomic Silver will be added creating two new color options for the LS.
Interior style and dimensions of the 2016 LS models will remain the same with the exception of the remote touch system. Lexus reverted to a similar button layout found on the 2010-2012 RX models with navigation. This mouse like feature will add two buttons (an enter button and a back button) on the sides of the remote touch interface. The change of the remote touch system will be consistent of those seen in the 2016 Lexus ES and RX models and offer drivers an easier to use infotainment system.
In addition to updating the remote touch interface, Lexus has made some changes to the infotainment system itself. On the 2016 LS, drivers will be able to view their maps and navigation guidance in full screen mode. New Lexus LS owners will be able to take full advantage of the large, 12.3-inch display. Interface graphics and voice recognition software has been enhanced to create a better user experience as well.
Lastly, the 2016 model year will be the first year that Lexus will introduce Lexus Enform Service Connect. This new service will be available across all models and will be an opt-in service included with the Lexus Enform Safety Connect subscription that new vehicle owners will have complimentary for one year. Safety Connect performs vehicle diagnostics to create a vehicle health report and vehicle and maintenance alerts. Data is accessible to both drivers and dealerships allowing easy scheduling of service appointments.
