For the fifth year in a row, Lexus was named number one in dependability according to the recent J.D. Power 2016 Vehicle Dependability Study (2016 VDS). Other top named brands included Porsche, Buick, Toyota, and GMC. The study takes a look at a brand’s dependability over the course of three years by examining the problems reported by 2013 model year owners. The results are given based on problems per 100 vehicles or PP100. Only Lexus and Porsche averaged less than 1 problem per vehicle.
In addition, Lexus received three segment awards in the 2016 study. The most dependable premium model amongst all U.S. vehicles was the Lexus ES. The Lexus ES had the lowest average number of problems per 100 vehicles and was ranked highest in the Compact Premium Car segment. The Lexus RX was named second to the Lexus GX among Midsized Premium SUVs. In the Midsized Premium Car segment, the Lexus GS was given top honors.
