Lexus first introduced the 2-liter, 4-cylinder, turbo engine in its 2015 Lexus NX 200t. For the 2016 model year, Lexus drops the engine into an IS. Thus, the 2016 Lexus IS 200t is born!
This new baby will be Lexus’ most fuel-efficient, non-hybrid, sedan sold in the United States. The new turbo charged IS 200t gives drivers an estimated 33 mpg on the highway, an increase of 22% over the 2.5-liter, V-6, All-Wheel Drive model.
Better fuel efficiency on the new IS 200t does not compromise driving performance. While achieving EPA fuel estimates of 22/33/26 mpg (city/highway/combined), the IS 200t outputs an extra 37 horsepower and 73 lb-ft or torque over the IS 250.
At this time, Lexus will only offer the IS 200t as a Rear Wheel Drive sedan.
