The mid-cycle update of the 2016 Lexus ES 350 and the hybrid ES 300h included changes to the front structure, A-pillar and roof rail, door hinge pillar and door sill. This modification has improved the protection of occupants in small overlap front crashes. In small overlap test, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the fresh luxury sedan a rating of good – the highest of rankings in IIHS testing.
For 2016, Lexus has added the optional Safety System + Package with an improved front crash prevention system. Safety System + will be available on more vehicles from the manufacturer meets criteria set by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The Lexus Pre-Collision System (PCS) seen an improvement this year as its rating moved from advanced to superior. Toyota/Lexus is one of 10 manufacturers committed to making automatic emergency braking standard across all models.
