Changes to the Next RX

As Lexus continues to evolve their ever popular RX model they’ve made some dramatic changes to the new 2016 Lexus RX. Nothing was hands off in the fourth-generation’s redesign.

The most recognizable changes are that in the appearance and styling of the RX’s exterior. It was influenced by it’s little brother, the NX 200t. Or was the NX influenced by the RX? Either way, the RX is quite different with a few stylish features such as the blacked-out C-panel which gives the effect of a floating roof. Additionally, the RX features a wider and bolder spindle front grille. This new RX has a more athletic and aggressive look, but the feel and drive has also been changed to keep in line with it’s hard edges and daring disguise.

By implementing a direct injection fuel system, the luxury auto manufacturer has increased the power and fuel economy of the new 3.5-liter V-6. This 295-horsepower engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, further enhancing fuel economy while giving more strength off the line and potent passing power. Chassis and driving dynamics have been improved upon to give more response and agile handling. Ride comfort, something that previous generations are notorious of, have been revised through added body rigidity and a now available Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS).

Inside the RX, drivers are surrounded by plush and elegant interior trims. For the first time ever, Lexus will offer the RX with an available panoramic glass roof.

Lexus Safety System + package has also been made available on the RX and will offer Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (ARCC), Lane Departure Alert (LDA) with Steering Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), and for the first time on the RX a Panoramic View Monitor. Also an RX first is the Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) which alerts drivers when a pedestrian or vehicle are passing from behind in a hard to see parking spot. Other technology includes an available 12.3-inch navigation system and the implementation of the brand’s Drive Mode Select that has been offered on several Lexus models previously.
